let’s talk timelines

  • WE’LL SEND YOU A QUESTIONNAIRE THROUGH OUR ONLINE SYSTEM ABOUT 2 MONTHS BEFORE YOUR WEDDING TO GET FINAL DETAILS ABOUT YOUR DAY.

  • AFTER WE HAVE YOUR FILLED OUT QUESTIONNAIRE, WE’LL SEND OVER A DRAFT TIMELINE AND WORK WITH YOU TO ADJUST IT UNTIL YOU’RE HAPPY WITH IT!

  • IF YOU WANT TO GET STARTED WITH PLANNING AND BEFORE THEN, HERE ARE A FEW TIPS!

things to think about:

  • We like to schedule 1.5 hours for getting ready photos. 30 minutes for detail photos (dress, shoes, rings, etc.) and 1 hour of getting ready time.

    • 30 minutes for hair and makeup, 30 minutes getting in your dress, jewelry + shoes on / bridesmaid first look / etc.

    • The second shooter will head over to the guys. It’s helpful if you get ready in the same spot, but if not they’ll drive over!

  • We typically need 1.5-2.5 hours to get all of the photos out of the way before the ceremony.

    • 30-45 minutes first look + bride&groom, 30-45 minutes wedding party, 30-45 minutes family, 30-45 minutes hiding time

We like to schedule a min of 30 minutes of hiding time (preferably 45 min) before your ceremony. Guests will start to arrive and you’ll want to be in hiding, not finishing up family pics.

  • Don’t forget about travel time! We like to add 5-10 minutes more than the actual driving time. Factor in traffic if it’s that time of day.

  • If you’re having a church ceremony, talk to your officiant/pastor/priest about average length. Think about whether you’re doing an exit from the ceremony and if so, plan 15ish minutes for that.

  • Golden hour photos will be scheduled 30 minutes before the sunset time listed on Google. If you’re having a city wedding, the sun will go behind the buildings earlier so we’ll ideally go 45 minutes - 1 hour before sunset.

  • Ask your venue/florist/planner how long they’ll need for room flip if your ceremony and reception are in the same place. You may need to have a 90 minute cocktail hour.

  • Plan in some time if tables need to be cleared for the dance floor.

Don’t want to do a first look? It’s so nice to get all the photos out of the way pre-ceremony, but it’s definitely doable as long as it doesn’t fall within the 4:30-5pm sunset time of year! We want to make sure we have enough daylight for you to get naturally lit photos. We usually get just bridesmaids / groomsmen done before the ceremony and only have to do a few whole group wedding party pictures.
